Pics of Importance

Here's Tony Plana, who plays Ugly Betty's father on the TV show. He flew back from San Antonio on our plane and was waiting for bags (that's the high-life, flying United Express).

Somebody we recognized having breakfast next to us in Silverlake...was it Nate Burkus of Oprah fame? I couldn't get a straight on shot without being an arse so all we could be sure about is that he was someone (plus he drove off in a Porsche Cayenne).

The girls as we were getting coffee.

Yours truly

Wicked Awesome...I'm all set.

Came back from my trip to Boston a couple of days ago. I uploaded all the pictures HERE.

It was a great time of year to visit New England (partly because of the seasons changing, partly because of the Sox fever!). Shannon was working in Danvers, which isn't in Boston central itself. So when we had free time, we went exploring Boston and surrounding areas. Boston is very pedestrian-friendly and I'm so glad to have finally seen it - it was weird to think of how far away from home I was!

Salem: Shan and I went to Salem the first day I was there. Salem was very happening with the approach of Halloween! We went to Witch Dungeon Museum, which the website claims is "The most exciting experience in Salem." Well....hmmm...Shannon and I would agree the acting was good...yes, the dungeon experience included a performance of the Salem witch trials. The dungeon did smell dank though, for the 25 seconds it actually took us to walk through it. Shannon had booked us for an Eerie Evening. The building was the scariest part of it. So I wouldn't recommend it, but I appreciated the experience for what it was! Thanks for making it happen, Shan!

Boston: On Saturday we took the train into Boston. It was raining that day but actually quite warm. Though I love the rain, the mugginess put me in a bad mood. But Shannon had planned the famous Duck Tour for us to do which was really fun! I recommend it! After walking around a bit and doing the tour, we headed back to the hotel and grabbed a not-so-great dinner next door at TGIF's.

Sunday Drive: We headed out pretty early on Sunday morning for a drive through the countryside, or the seaside actually. It was gorgeous, winding roads in small towns, tons of beautiful trees with leaves changing, sunny and crispy day! It was really cold that day, so we ventured out of the car a couple of times including Rockport, MA which was a lovely little seaside community with lots of shops and cute cafes. After a few hours, we headed back to the hotel where I had a nap, we had a roaring fire, watched football and Shannon cooked dinner for us.

The Freedom Trail: On Monday Shannon lent me her car so I was able to get to the train station to return to Boston. I had planned on walking The Freedom Trail. It's an almost 3 mile guided walk through Boston marking the historical happenings of Boston's history as a pivotal player in the the War of Independence. While you can take actual tours, the city has made it a DIY tour if you prefer, with a red line painted throughout the entire trail so you know which way to go. I walked the entire trail taking pictures along the way. It's one of those things everyone should do. I'm glad I did it on Monday because the 16 places the trail points out weren't too crazy busy with tourists. It was so cold, I loved it! Soy lattes never tasted so good! The plan had been that after I got back from Boston and Shannon got off of work, we would head into Salem to do the candlelight walking tour, which was one thing in Salem we realized didn't look to corny. However, Shannon shut her thumb in a car door (the door closed all the way). So our evening was a bit more somber. The poor thing just tried to keep the pain bearable with ice and Advil while we watched the pummeling the Patriots gave the Redskins.

Holocaust Memorial. It's 6 glass pillars representing 6 concentration camps with 6,000,000 camp serial numbers etched in the glass. This was broad daylight and I loved the sun illuminating it.

Tuesday Shannon and I headed back to our respective homes and I just want to add that I wish airlines didn't have the televisions that everyone can see on the plane (on the ceiling of the planes) because it means only a select few films can be shown (so as not to offend any innocent eyes). This meant License to Wed was offered on both the flights there and back (different airlines). I need not waste space on how bad it is! I like airlines that have individual tvs and movie choices - do they not do that anymore or what?
